WIC Program offered at Chelan-Douglas Health District

Provides a nutrition program and food assistance for pregnant and post-partum women and infants and children under age 5. Offers: - Nutrition and health assessments and education - Breastfeeding counseling - Vouchers for specific nutritious foods - Health screenings and referrals - Referrals to other health and social programs WIC checks are valued at about $50 per month per participant and can be used to buy milk, eggs, peanut butter and/or beans, cheese, bread, tortillas, brown rice, breakfast cereal and fresh fruits and vegetables. For babies over six months of age, vouchers for baby cereal and baby foods are provided. Infant formula is available for babies who are not breastfeeding.

Application process

Call for eligibility and appointment. Necessary documents are: Proof of household income (can use medical card), proof of residency in WA state (driver’s license or letter that has been sent to their address), and proof of ID (does not need to be a photo ID or birth certificate although those do work).
