Communicable Disease Control offered at Benton-Franklin Health District

Investigates diseases of public health significance and tracks disease statistics. Receives reports of required notifiable conditions as well as complaints regarding illnesses. Answers general health questions and provides referrals to community resources for immunizations. Provides HIV positive individuals linkages to services, including medical providers, Early Intervention Program, HOPWA, and REACH. Oversees the Tri-Cities Diabetes Coalition, which promotes diabetes awareness and education, lifestyle changes and diabetes risk education.  Counselors are fully trained in meal preparation for the special dietary needs of a diabetic.
