Paratransit offered by Whatcom Transportation Authority

Provides curb-to-curb (and if needed, door-to-door) transportation to riders whose disability prevents them from riding the fixed route bus system. Paratransit service is designed to be equal to the fixed route service. Paratransit’s service area and hours of operation mirror those of the fixed routes. Riders often share their rides with others to meet demand. Paratransit can be used for any trip purpose, other than a medical emergency Examples include to get to work or school, to visit friends and family, to go shopping, or to church, to see movies, enjoy parks and trails and keep medical or dental appointments. Wheelchair equipped vehicles with curb-to-curb service are provided to most populated areas of Whatcom County. Service to remote areas may be limited.  Evening service operates in a more limited area, corresponding to fixed route bus service.
