Volunteers of America’s transitional living program provides support for up to 22 chronically homeless, single men at the Grants Per Diem (GPD) housing complex. Referred primarily from Healthcare for Homeless Veterans (HCHV), and who are often dealing with co-occurring issues of mental illness and substance abuse. A Volunteers of America case manager will provide supportive services.
Volunteers of America’s Transitional Living Program provides support for up to twenty chronically homeless. Referred primarily from Healthcare for Homeless Veterans (HCHV) these individuals deal with co-occurring issues of mental illness, substance use, and often also physical ailments.

Provides a short-term housing intervention program for low-income veterans and their families experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Veterans and their families can be assisted with housing through case management, pending eligibility. If eligible, assistance and support may include move-in/rental assistance, eviction prevention, benefits support, employment and education services, legal aid around housing barriers, and other expenses that may support stable housing. Must be willing to work with a caseworker. May require clients to be alcohol- and drug-free. Assistance in any of these programs depends on availability of funds.

Francis Place - Provides 42 units of housing with supportive services for formerly homeless adults in downtown Bellingham. Kateri Court - Offers 40 units of studio and one-bedroom apartments in Bellingham for low-income households at or below 50% of the area median income. Mount Baker Apartments - Provides 84 units of affordable housing in downtown Bellingham for low-income households at or below 50% or 60% of the area median income. Centralized access point for people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless to connect to the programs and services they need. Services include shelter placement and housing/safe parking programs.
Provides telephone and/or in-person screening and assessment for households who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Telephone screenings are provided for emergency shelter (men's, women's, couples, and families) and winter shelter, including severe weather sites and homeless safe parking programs. Households are assessed for eligibility for rental assistance/housing programs (prevention, rapid re-housing, transitional, and permanent supportive), as well as diversion programs. Funding is limited and assistance is not guaranteed.
