Provides diagnosis, lab, pediatric care, womens heath care, minor surgery, and more for patients of all ages in the Grant County.

Programs that identify individuals who have contracted tuberculosis by administering chest x-rays; the Mantoux test, the von Pirquet test or the Vollmer patch test, all of which determine the presence of a tuberculosis infection based on a local inflammatory reaction to a sample of the bacillus which has been injected or rubbed into the skin; or other screening tools.

Tuberculosis Screening

Programs that conduct microscopic studies of tissue samples from the cervix or vagina as a means of early cancer detection in women.

Pap Tests

Routine examinations conducted on an annual basis to assess the general physical condition of an individual and detect abnormalities. General physicals vary, but most involve a discussion of any concerns the patient may be having; checking vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, heart rate and respiration rate), weight and general appearance; heart and lung exams using a stethoscope; a head and neck exam that looks at the throat, teeth and gums, ears, sinuses, eyes, lymph nodes, thyroid and carotid arteries; an abdominal exam that uses palpation to detect liver size, the presence of abdominal fluid or tenderness; a visual examination of the extremities; and breast and pelvic exams for women, testicular and prostate exams for men. The annual physical exam also provides an opportunity to refocus attention on prevention and screening and routine laboratory tests may be suggested.

General Physical Examinations

Well Baby Care

Athletic screenings can identify abnormalities such as heart disease, respiratory illnesses (e.g., asthma), musculoskeletal disorders, prior history of trauma to knees and shoulders, concussion history, and weight training/overtraining; and help reduce associated risks with organized sports or athletics. The goals of the exam are to evaluate the athlete's overall health status; assess his or her size, developmental maturation and present fitness level; evaluate existing injuries; and detect congenital anomalies or other conditions that may put the athlete at increased risk of injury or sudden death while playing sports.

Pulmonologists diagnose and treat asthma, pneumonia, cancer, occupational diseases, bronchitis, emphysema and other complex disorders of the lungs.

Programs that are staffed by specialists who have expertise in the prevention of occupational disease and injury and the evaluation and treatment of people who have these problems.

Occupational Medicine

Programs that are staffed by specialists who have expertise in the study, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions that are common in individuals who are in their teens.

Adolescent Medicine

Programs that provide medical care for pregnant individuals from the time of conception to the onset of labor to ensure their own physical well-being and the healthy development and birth of their child. Services generally include identification of risk factors based on age, health and/or personal and family history that may affect a pregnancy; diet and lifestyle advice; routine checkups to look for signs of problems associated with pregnancy (such as edema, preeclampsia, or gestational diabetes) and to assure that the pregnancy is progressing well; ultrasound and other forms of prenatal testing to monitor fetal development and check for possible birth defects; and general information about being pregnant, e.g., what is normal and what is cause for concern, remedies for morning sickness or sleeplessness, managing weight gain and other common issues.

Prenatal Care

Programs that inoculate susceptible individuals of all ages, but particularly people who are very young or very old, to prevent them from contracting any of the variant strains of influenza that are prevalent during the winter and spring. The vaccine may be administered as a "shot" that is given with a needle, usually in the arm, or in the form of a nasal mist.

Flu Vaccines

Programs that provide comprehensive primary and specialized care which focus on health issues experienced by women. Services are provided in an emotionally supportive and safe environment, and typically include health education, wellness programs and assistance navigating services. Specialized care available at women's health centers vary and may include reproductive and sexual health diagnostic and treatment services, access to abortion, cancer screening, and/or other public education programs focused on women's health.

Women's Health Centers

Programs that prescribe and/or supply temporary devices for preventing pregnancy which may include oral contraceptives (birth control pills), hormonal injections (Depo-Provera), intrauterine devices (IUDs), the patch, the sponge, cervical caps, condoms, foam, the vaginal ring and diaphragms.

Contraception

Programs that provide a comprehensive overview of available birth control methods including information about fertility cycles, natural family planning, contraception and sterilization, and help people evaluate their options and select the method that bests suits their needs.

Birth Control Counseling

Programs that inoculate infants and young children to prevent them from contracting diseases to which they are particularly susceptible including diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), measles, mumps, chicken pox (varicella), rubella (German measles), whooping cough (pertussis), Hib (haemophilus influenzae type B), hepatitis B, pneumococcal infections and polio. Hepatitis A vaccine is recommended for use in selected locales and for certain high-risk groups. Influenza vaccine is recommended annually for children older than six months with specific risk factors. Rotavirus vaccination (to prevent acute gastroenteritis with vomiting and severe diarrhea) is recommended during the first year of infancy. A baby should receive two or three doses depending on the brand used. Some childhood immunizations involve a series of doses at specific intervals.

Programs that offer the specialty in which all modalities of radiant energy are used for the detection of abnormalities throughout the body, often following the ingestion or injection of a radioactive or radiopaque substance that functions as a contrast medium. Programs that are staffed by specialists who provide comprehensive preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services for individuals who have diseases of or injuries to the feet. Conditions treated may include bacterial and fungal infections, skin and nail disorders, benign and cancerous tumors, congenital and acquired foot deformities and foot problems caused by illnesses such as diabetes, arthritis and cardiovascular diseases. Treatment includes use of surgical procedures, casting or other forms of immobilization and the prescription of corrective devices, oral and locally injected medication and physical therapy. Included are services provided by podiatrists, chiropodists and other foot care specialists. Foot care may also be provided by nurses. Podiatrists are health professional specialists with a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree.

Asthma Clinics

General surgery can be used for routine procedures performed in a physician’s office, such as a vasectomy, or for more complicated operations requiring a medical team in a hospital setting such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy (removal of the gallbladder).
