Non-Emergency Medical Air Transportation offered by Angel Flight West

Provides non-emergency medical transport to far-off medical treatment, domestic violence and human trafficking relocation, assistance for military personnel, and disaster response.

Programs, usually staffed by volunteer private pilots, that provide flight services for medical missions which may include transporting human organs and tissue for transplants; plasma or whole blood; anatomical specimens for medical research; medical personnel, equipment and supplies; and, in instances of medical and financial need, individual patients who require services from health care facilities that they would be unable to access without assistance. Also included are programs that provide compassionate, non-emergency long-distance ground transportation for patients in need, usually by bus.

Mercy Transportation

Programs that provide transportation for medical appointments, trips from and between hospitals, to nursing homes or other special-care centers or for other non-emergency medical needs for individuals who, because of financial problems or their physical condition, are unable to use other means of local transportation. NEMT service providers are able to transport riders who require a wheelchair lift equipped vehicle with appropriate protective restraints or a van that is designed for gurney/stretcher transportation, or has other types of features to meet their safety needs.

Non-Emergency Medical Transportation

Programs that provide transportation for people who are endangered and who need a safe ride to a shelter or other program location where their well-being can be ensured. People who may be served include women experiencing domestic violence, runaways, sexual assault survivors and prostitutes who are being threatened by a customer or a pimp.

Transportation for Endangered People

Programs that provide financial assistance for people who are in the midst of a personal or family emergency (e.g., a death in the family or critical medical treatment) that requires their presence in a distant location and who cannot obtain the necessary airline tickets without assistance. Also included are organizations that make seats on private aircraft (or regular carriers) available at low or no cost to people who meet "compassion flight" criteria; and programs that pay for trips using donated air miles.

Air Fare

Programs that provide special transportation services which temporarily augment or replace the normal public transportation system following a major disaster or large-scale emergency that disrupts the normal functioning of a community. Transportation is frequently provided utilizing minibuses which may operate on a fixed-route or demand-response basis depending on the needs of the community. Also included are programs that provide time-limited bus passes, loaner vehicles or other resources for people who have been evacuated from the disaster area and have no means of transportation in their new, temporary place of residence.
